I managed to get an interview off the stupidly good and very cool Druid, enjoy.
Please introduce yourself (where are you from, when did you start writing etc)
Hi, I write mostly Druid and Erik with the occasional switch ups. I’m from a little town in the South of Holland. I did my first real piece 13 years ago. But before that I had tagged around a bit already.
I remember making my own graffiti “magazines” by cutting out pictures from the graff pages of The Source magazine. Shortly afterwards I learned there were such things as real graff magazines like the Bomber!
Are you descended from Celtic Western Europe or did you just like the word druid?
- That’s a legit question haha. But no I’m not descended from celtic Western Europe, quite the opposite. I just liked that Druid had an actual meaning which gives the name some character already. Also I liked that it began with a D and ended with a D also.
Your style has a an old skool feel (especially the colours) but the letters are always doing something, they’re either dancing or looking mean like there going to steal your milk money. Do you think about that sort of stuff when you’re sketching up?
- I do believe character is very important in a piece and that every letter should have a different one. Druid is like a five man party, each doing their own thing but still in relation to each other. They should have character but also try to interact with their neighbours. So having enough character to come alive and enough dynamics to impress. Usually when I sketch, I just clash the letters into each other, giving me a little puzzle how to solve the connections and flow.
About the color, I just feel that there is so much more excitement and depth to a funky colourful filled piece. I’m not trying to emulate the oldschool schemes but I guess i’m inspired by them.
3 of your favourite pieces that you’ve done?
Your favourite letter and why?
- My favourite letter is the letter R. You can write it in capitals or undercast which makes it pretty versatile. Also when written in capital, I can extend it to cross different letters to make connections. When I feel lazy i can just do a undercast one.
Who are two of your favourite writers, one from when you started out and another who is doing the do now?
- One of my favourite writers when i started out was (and still is) RENS TAV. It had it all, a nice fade, characters and cool fun letters. The way graffiti was supposed to look.

A writer who I nowadays look forward seeing new stuff from is KEO TC5. The guy is a true craftsman. He switches it up often but it always looks like he has rocked the name forever, that’s skill.

Preferred surface to paint?
- If possible, a bare wall.
party or paint?
- Paint.
if you didn’t paint what would you do with the spare time?
- If I didn’t paint, I would have been a much better bboy or I would make more effort playing my keyboard.
On to some none graffito questions:
Rap or rock?
- Have to say rap.
A tune too sketch/paint/lay a girl too?
- Too all situations I would suggest, “Dance magic dance” by David Bowie.
Best munch?
- A nice bowl of hot Pho.
Thanks for taking the time to do this. Any shouts?
- Thanks to Spray beast for this interview and a shout out to my crew buddy Rumbl who is featured on two of my favourite pieces selection.
Finally, where can people find you, on the Internet that is.
- FLICKR
And some of my picks…
